This pull plate flat spring for the GMP J and J2 lasher provides the flex that keeps the pull plate away from the brake release lever. When the spring fatigues it could allow the braking mechanism to be slightly dis-engaged, allowing the lasher to roll backward if the brake slips.
The spring ships with its mounting screw and lock washer, so the swap goes in with fresh hardware and matches original fit and function.
